MA Conference for Women Travel Advisory

The Massachusetts Conference for Women will take place at the Menino Convention and Exhibition Center (formerly the BCEC) on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. 

We will be welcoming up to 13,000 attendees to Fort Point and the South Boston Waterfront. Expect increased area activity, traffic, and limited parking during the event.

The Seaport TMA highly recommends that people traveling through the Seaport utilize public and alternative transportation modes throughout the day of this event. Cyclists can reference live map of bike parking and Bluebikes stations located in the vicinity. MBTA Silver Line service may see busier than normal ridership levels, and area garages may also be busier. If you must drive, please allow additional time for your commute.

2. Channel Center Garage
3. Necco Street Garage & Channelside Open Air Lot

Boston Police details will join State Police to help direct traffic and provide pedestrian safety.

November 29: Get in the holiday spirit with the fifth annual Martin's Park Ship Lighting hosted by Friends of Martin’s Park and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department from 5pm to 6pm at 64 Sleeper Street. You won't want to miss Santa arriving by boat at the Harborwalk, live music, hot chocolate and of course, the lighting of the Ship and pedestrian bridge, illuminated with over 1,500 feet of blue and white lights.

December 11: PAPERCLIPS Opening featuring artwork in a variety of media from the artists at 249 A Street Artists Cooperative (249 A St.) from 6pm to 8pm at 249 A St. All artworks are original and priced at $200 or under. Ornaments & Stocking Stuffers are $25 or less. 

December 11: "Songs from the Subducted Sea", charting a fluid, archipelagic world where volcanic calderas, drifting islands, and submersible forms echo "wandering trajectories” Opening Reception from 6pm to 9pm at the Midway Gallery, 15 Channel Center Street.

Fan Expo This Weekend

Fan Expo Boston will take place at the Menino Convention and Exhibition Center (formerly the BCEC) from Friday, August 8 through Sunday, August 10. It will be a pop culture celebration focusing on Sci-Fi, Horror, Comics, Gaming, and Anime. 

We will be welcoming up to 36,000 daily attendees to Fort Point and the South Boston Waterfront. Expect increased area activity, traffic, and limited parking during the event.

The Seaport TMA highly recommends that people traveling through the district utilize public and alternative transportation modes throughout the day of this event. Cyclists can reference their live map of bike parking and Bluebikes stations locations. MBTA Silver Line service may see busier than normal ridership levels, and area garages may also be busier. If you are driving in and out of the neighborhood, please allow additional time for your commute.

Boston Wharf Road No Parking Advisory

updated 06/30/25 at 5:00pm: The closure of Boston Wharf Road scheduled for tomorrow, July 1st, is postponed until the week of July 7th. We will share the new advisory with the exact date and time when the information becomes available. 

The Boston Wharf Road Improvement project continues with the paving, striping and inclusion of bike lanes along Boston Wharf Road from Autumn Lane to Congress Street, and part of West Service Road.  The anticipated completion date of July 11, which may now be pushed out. 

Please be advised that the roadway contractor will be closing Boston Wharf Road between Seaport Blvd and Congress Street on Tuesday, July 1 from 7am until 2pm is postponed to the week of July 7th. They will be working in the roadway adjusting castings and will need the full extent of roadway to get the work done. 

If on the future date, cars are parked along any stretch of Boston Wharf Road , they will be towed.

Paving will be scheduled for the following week. Paving is anticipated to be completed overnight to avoid as much traffic interruption as possible.

Traffic Advisory: Moakley Bridge To Be Closed Weekend of June 21st

updated 06/16/25 with more details on timing and detour courtesy of the Seaport TMA.

The City of Boston will be making repairs to the Moakley Bridge over the weekend of 6/21/2025. Working hours for the project are around the clock, with several periods of the bridge being closed to traffic the weekend of June 21. The bridge will be intermittently closed so the contractor can raise the structure with jacks to replace older bearings.   

Timing: The first closure is scheduled to occur at 11:00pm on Friday night, June 20. The second closure is scheduled to begin mid/late morning Saturday, and the third closure will be beginning late Saturday night. All closures are anticipated to be around 4-5 hours in length. These timings and durations are subject to change based upon how the work proceeds.

Detours: During the bridge closures, the following detours will be in place on the Moakley Bridge - 

• Westbound: Seaport Blvd to Sleeper St to Congress St to Atlantic Ave
• Eastbound: Purchase St to Congress St to Sleeper St to Seaport Blvd 
• Police details will be in place during construction directing traffic at the intersections of Seaport & Sleeper, Seaport & Atlantic, and Congress & Sleeper.

FAQs from the City’s Traffic Advisory

Q: What is the nature of the work on the Moakley Bridge? 

A: The bridge is being raised to replace deteriorated bearings on the structure. Once replaced, jacks will then lower the beams back onto the new bearings. 

Q: What are the working hours for the project?

A: Working hours for the project are around the clock, with several periods of the bridge being closed to traffic the weekend of June 21. There will be preparatory work performed in the two weeks prior to the weekend of June 21 from under the bridge.  

Q: Why is this work being done now?

A: Our goal in the City of Boston is to always keep our bridges and other infrastructure in a good state of repair. This project requires coordination to ensure the work being performed is done so in a safe and effective manner. The upcoming work window was identified as the best available time to complete the necessary repairs

Q: How long will the repairs take? 

A:  The intent to complete the tasks requiring closing the bridge to the weekend of June 21.

Q: Will local abutters be affected by any noise from the construction repairs?

A: Yes, at times residents could be affected by loud noise from contractor equipment, though we do not expect this work to be particularly noisy 

Q: Will the bridge remain open during construction?

A: No. The bridge will be intermittently closed the weekend of 6/21/2025 so our contractors can safely jack the bridge and replace deteriorated bearings.

Advisory: Boston Wharf Road Roadway Improvement Project May 27 - July 11

The Boston Wharf Road Improvement Project will commence on May 27 with an anticipated completion date of July 11. The project will include excavating, milling, paving, and striping Boston Wharf Road from Autumn Lane to Congress Street, and part of West Service Road. As part of the project, Boston Wharf Road will be a one-way, South-bound road from Autumn Lane to Congress Street for the duration of the excavation scopes of work.

The project schedule is subject to change based on weather and permitting.

Typical Project Work Hours:

• During Excavation Scopes of Work: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
• During Milling and Paving Scopes of Work: 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM

Noise Levels: Construction will involve the use of heavy machinery and is expected to have the following potential impacts during the project work hours:

• Engine and equipment operation
• Back-up alarms (safety requirement)
• Material loading/unloading
• Intermittent vibrations from excavation equipment

Traffic Impacts: Boston Wharf Road will be a one-way, South-bound road from Autumn Lane to Congress Street for the duration of the excavation scopes of work.

April 5 - April 11Traffic Advisory: Congress St. Closure & Temporary Lane Restriction & I-90 Closure at Exit 135

Updated 4/9/24: Exit 135 Turnpike off-ramp from I-90 West to South Boston will be closed overnight through Thursday, April 11 with a detour via I-93 North, Purchase Street, and Congress Street.

The Seaport TMA advises that starting Friday 4/5 at 7 a.m. through Monday 4/8 at 5 a.m., there will be work on the roadway at the off-ramp (Ramp F) to Congress Street from I-90 westbound. The right turn from Ramp F will be closed, along with a portion of Congress Street. This lane restriction is required for safety and construction staging as part of the demobilization of the tower crane at the 10 World Trade air rights project.

From I-90 West: At Exit 135 (old Exit 25), the right turn lane from the off-ramp (Ramp F) from I-90 West to Congress Street will be closed, with a detour via B Street and D Street.

From Congress Street East: Congress Street eastbound will be closed between B Street and D Street, with a detour via B Street and Seaport Boulevard. Access will be limited to residents only between Seaport Lane and D Street.

From Congress Street West: Congress Street westbound will be closed between B Street and D Street, with a detour via D Street and Seaport Boulevard. Access will be limited to residents only between Seaport Lane and D Street. Please note that one westbound lane will be open on Friday, April 5 from 7a.m. to 7 p.m.

Detour Timing: 7 a.m. on Friday, April 5, to 5 a.m. on Monday, April 8.

Hubspot Inbound Coming to BCEC Next Week

Hubspot INBOUND is coming to the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC) Tuesday, September 6 through Saturday, September 9, 2023. Traffic Advisory: Overnight Ramp Closures Tonight Through Thursday 6/22

Please be advised that starting Tuesday, June 20th through Thursday, June 22nd, there will be overnight road closures and lane restrictions in the neighborhood. Descriptions with detours are below.

Detour - Tuesday 6/20 through Thursday 6/22:

• From I-90 East: Exit 135 (old Exit 25), the Turnpike off-ramp from I-90 East to Congress Street will be closed (Ramps E/C) with a detour via the South Boston Bypass Road.
• Massport Haul Road: access to South Boston Bypass Road and I-90 East Ramp will be closed with detours via Summer Street and Congress Street.
• From I-93 North: The I-90 East exit from I-93 North to South Boston/Seaport will have a double right lane closure. The right lane restriction will be moved to the left side once right-side work is complete. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times.

Timing:

• From Tuesday, June 20th from 9:00 pm to Wednesday, June 21st at 5:00 am
• From Wednesday, June 21st from 9:00 pm to Thursday. June 22nd at 5:00 am

Traffic Advisory: Overnight Haul Road Closure Starting Today

The following traffic advisory is courtesy of the Seaport TMA. 

Please be advised that starting Tuesday, May 30 through Friday June 2, 2023, the westbound segment of Massport Haul Road to South Boston Bypass Road and I-90 East will be closed during overnight hours. A description for the overnight closure and detour is below.

Haul Road Closure Timing:

• Tues. 5/30 from 9 p.m. to Wed. 5/31 5 a.m.
• Wed. 5/31 from 9 p.m. to Thurs. 6/1 5 a.m.
• Thurs. 6/1 from 9 p.m. to Fri. 6/2 5 a.m.
• Friday 6/2 from 9 p.m. to Sat. 6/3 5 a.m.

The detour map and description are below. This closure is required to install permanent signage.

As always, when driving through and near the work zone, we ask drivers to pay extra attention to speed, lane markings, detour signage, barriers, police details, and construction workers.

Street Closures, Ramp Closures & Detours This Holiday Weekend

The rededication for the Massachusetts Fallen Heroes Memorial is scheduled to to take place Friday, May 26th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at 85 Northern Ave.

Northern Avenue from Fan Pier Boulevard to Harbor Shore Drive will be closed. Parking restrictions will be in place on the following streets:

• Northern Avenue, Southside (District Hall side), from Fan Pier Boulevard to Harbor Shore Drive
• Northern Avenue, Northside (Waterfront Park side), from Harbor Shore Drive to Fan Pier Boulevard
• Seaport Boulevard Northside (District Hall side), from Northern Avenue to Thomson Place

This Memorial Day weekend, we will welcome approximately 6,000 attendees to the South Boston Waterfront for Sunday's Boston’s Run to Remember Half Marathon & 5 mile road race. To accommodate the runners, there will be road closures and detours. There will also be overnight I-90 Exit 135 ramp closures from May 28 through May 30, 2023

Please be advised of the following Seaport Blvd closures on May 28th:

4:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Seaport Blvd closed between B Street and D Street
6:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Seaport Blvd closed between Atlantic Ave and D Street

A Northbound and a Southbound lane will be open on the Moakley Bridge between Sleeper Street and Atlantic Ave to allow traffic on Northern Avenue to bypass Seaport Blvd and provide access to Congress St. Cyclists can reference Seaport TMA's live map of bike parking and Bluebikes stations. MBTA Silver Line service may see busier than normal ridership levels and area garages may also be busier.

Overnight Ramp Closure May 28 - May 30: I-90 Exit 135

Exit 135 off-ramp from I-90 West to South Boston will be closed from Sunday, May 28 to Tuesday, May 30, with a detour via I-93 North, Purchase Street, and Congress Street.

Timing: Approximately 3:00 p.m. on Sunday May 28 to 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday May 30.

Purpose: To install steel beams in a safe and controlled manner, with access from the off-ramp, as part of the ongoing 10 World Trade air rights construction project. The off-ramp will re-open by 5:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Detour: From Exit 134/135, drivers will fork left instead of right, using the off-ramp to I-93 North. Drivers will be directed to take Exit 17 for Government Center and keep left on John F Fitzgerald Surface Road to Purchase Street, and turn left on Congress Street. The detour will be fully marked with signage.

Transit Advisory: Silver Line Detours 5/5 through 5/7

Please be advised that Silver Line detours will be in place on May 5 at 8:45 p.m. and during the weekend of May 6-7, 2023.

Silver Line Routes 1, 2, and 3 will be re-routed to the street level around Courthouse Station beginning at approximately 8:45 p.m. on May 5 and during the weekend of May 6-7.

This service change will allow for improvement work to take place at Courthouse Station. Signage will be in place during all scheduled changes in service to direct riders to shuttle bus stops. Extra MBTA personnel and Transit Ambassadors will also be on-hand to assist riders.

Traffic Advisory: Seaport Blvd Westbound Lane Closure, Seaport Lane to B Street

Please be advised that that from Thursday, May 4th to Thursday, May 18th the westbound lanes of Seaport Boulevard from Seaport Lane to B Street will be closed for full roadway reconstruction.  

Detour Routes:

From Northern Avenue East: At the D Street Intersection turn left to and continue to Congress Street. Continue on Congress street East until B Street.  Turn Right onto B Street and continue to Seaport Boulevard. Turn Left onto Seaport Boulevard.  

Seaport Hotel Traffic from Northern Avenue East: As normal, continue past detour signage at D Street intersection and turn left onto Seaport Lane.  

Timing: The westbound lanes will be closed at all times between May 4-May 18. 

Purpose: The roadway is being reconstructed as part of the Commonwealth Pier Revitalization Project to provide revised drainage and to reconstruct the center median.  

The Roadway reconstruction includes the following scope of work: 

• Establishing work safety zone consisting of traffic barriers, gates, and construction fencing

• Full depth removal of the existing roadway system using excavators with material being trucked offsite  

• Raising roadway elevation up to 18 inches across the entire Westbound lanes via new subgrade materials delivered by truck 

• Grading, preparing, and compacting the subgrade materials in preparation for binder course paving

• Adjusting approximately twenty manholes, castings, and other utility structures

• Installation of binder course asphalt paving

• Delivery and installation of approximately 1,600 linear feet of granite curbing to create new roadway median

• Binder course asphalt infill at areas of curb installation

• Installation of temporary roadway markings

A State Police Detail will be stationed at the intersection of Seaport Lane and Seaport Boulevard throughout the period of roadway reconstruction.

Traffic Advisory: Overnight I-90 Ramp Closure 4/19-4/20

Please be advised that the I-90 highway ramp from Logan Airport to the Seaport District (exit #135) will be closed to traffic on Wednesday and Thursday nights this week (April 19th and 20th). Detours will be set up and in place from 11:00pm – 5:00am on both nights  while structural steel is put in place as part of the 10 World Trade project.

Massachusetts State Police details will be present, and detour signage will redirect all vehicles to the Seaport via I-93 North to Government Center. Alternatively, vehicles coming to the Seaport from East Boston are encouraged to use the Sumner Tunnel for a more direct route.

Please anticipate additional travel time of approximately 10minutes when traveling to the Seaport / South Boston. Thank you for your patience and cooperation, and please continue to contact the 10 World Trade project team with any questions.

Traffic Advisory: Lane Reduction on Congress Street Friday 1/6 through Monday 1/9

A Traffic Advisory from the Seaport TMA
Please be advised that starting Friday 1/6 through the early morning of Monday 1/9, Congress Street in the Seaport will be temporarily reduced to one lane in each direction for one block between Boston Wharf Road and Pier Four Boulevard. Pedestrian access will be maintained on the north side of Congress Street.

Timing: Congress Street Lane Reduction: Friday 1/6 11:59 p.m. to Monday 1/9 5:00 a.m.

Purpose: This lane reduction is to accommodate for the removal of a tower crane as part of the ongoing 400 Summer Street construction. The workzone will be restored to its current condition by 5 a.m. on Monday 1/9.

Overnight Haul Road Closures This Wednesday & Thursday

On Wednesday, October 12 and Thursday, October 13, the westbound segment of Massport Haul Road to South Boston Bypass Road and I-90 East will be closed during overnight hours. 

Haul Road Closures:

• Wed. 10/12/22 from 9 p.m. to Thurs. 10/13 5 a.m.
• Thurs. 10/13/22 from 9 p.m. to Fri. 10/14 5 a.m.

Detour maps and descriptions below. These closures are required to setup expanded workzones in a safe and controlled manner, requiring access from the highway ramps.

As always, when driving through and near the work zone, we ask drivers to pay extra attention to speed, lane markings, detour signage, barriers, police details, and construction workers.

Traffic Advisory Sunday For Boston Run To Remember

The  Boston Run to Remember will be taking place on Sunday, May 29. This event is expected to bring 6,000 attendees to the South Boston Waterfront. Expect increased area activity, traffic, and limited parking.

Please note street closures:

4:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Seaport Blvd B to D Street closed
6:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Seaport Blvd to Atlantic Ave closed

A Northbound and a Southbound lane will be open on the Moakley Bridge between Sleeper Street and Atlantic Ave to allow traffic to exit and enter bypassing Seaport Blvd and provide access to Congress St.

Seaport TMA highly recommends that people traveling through the Seaport utilize public and alternative transportation modes throughout the day of this event. MBTA Silver Line service may see busier than normal ridership levels and area garages may also be busier. If you must drive, please allow additional time for your commute.

Westbound Haul Rd/Bypass Rd Closure Tonight

Seaport TMA advisory that on Wednesday evening, September 15, 2021 into the morning of Thursday September 16 the westbound Massport Haul Road to South Boston Bypass Road and I-90 East will be closed for overhead construction.

Timing: Wed. 9/15 from 9:00 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Purpose: To install electronic signage including hanging, electrical wiring, and testing that cannot be done safely and efficiently above live traffic.

Detour: Access to I-90 East will be detoured to the South Boston Bypass Road on-ramp via the Haul Road eastbound and Congress Street. Drivers from D Street southbound will use Summer Street and Pumphouse Road to access the detour at Haul Road eastbound. Drivers from D Street northbound will continue on D Street to access the detour on Congress Street. Detour routes will be fully marked with signage.
