June 10: Artists for Humanity's (AFH) invites you to Portrait Project: Honoring 250 Years of Changemakers Opening Reception from 6pm to 8pm with an artist talk starting at 5pm and the opportunity to tour seven design studios to see the creative process in action. The Portrait Project commemorates the American Revolution with a series of portraits created by AFH teens honoring individuals who have shaped Boston and local Massachusetts communities from the nation’s founding to the present day. Artists for Humanity is located at 100 W. 2nd Street. 

June 11: Join artist Mirana Comstack for the EYE OF THE STORM: Photographs of Protest and Resistance Opening Reception from 6pm to 8pm at the Midway Gallery within Midway Artist Studios at 15 Channel Center St. Pin on a button, grab a sign, sing a protest song and become part of this interactive exhibit chronicling protest and resistance. The exhibit runs through July 29th. 

June 11 through June 12: No parking on A Street from Congress to Melcher from 11pm to 5am in preparation of road striping including the bike lane. Please note this marks the end of parking on A Street from Congress to the Blue Dragon corner of Melcher St. More resident parking has been added to Melcher St. 

June 12: The artists at the the Artist Building at 300 Summer Street are excited to announce the reopening of Gallery 300 and to invite you to the Opening Reception of Three Visions of Landscape from 6pm to 8pm. The exhibit showcases work by Anthony Apesos, Fiona Bank and Karl Stevens, and runs through August 2nd.

June 12: ArtSEA: Open Aux Cypher with RtF! from 6pm to 8pm. Come and hang out with musicians of all genres through an open aux cypher (open mic) with Restoring.theFeeling! Singers, rappers, poets, and other types of musicians are welcome to plug in, join the cypher and collaborate with the growing RtF community in real time.

Snow Emergency, Snow Clearing, Emergency Shelters & Heating Guidelines

Updated 2/24: Snow emergency ends Tuesday, February 24th at 6pm.  If you parked at discounted or free garage, residents have until 8pm to get the snow emergency parking rate. Be in the know. Sign up for emergency alerts. Parking space savers must be removed by Thursday, February 26th at 6pm. 

As seen from multiple outlets including FPNA's Bluesky, Instagram, Facebook & X, Boston is under a snow emergency. Lydia Polaski, the Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Services South Boston Liaison, is sharing some additional information to get us through the snowstorm safely, along with some gentle reminders of property owner and tenant snow responsibilities. If you can, FPNA asks that you to check on your neighbors who might need additional assistance.

The City is urging residents to abide by snow regulations and encouraging all drivers to use caution if traveling. Residents are also encouraged to sign up for emergency notifications through AlertBoston and to call 311 for non-emergency related issues. For any emergency, residents should call 911. 

Boston City Hall and other municipal buildings, including Boston Public Library branches and Boston Centers for Youth & Families, will be closed on Monday, February 23, 2026. Online services will remain available. 

For the duration of the snow emergency, parking is prohibited in Boston Public Library and Boston Public Schools parking lots. Vehicles may be towed if they are parked in parking lots during the snow emergency. 

• A snow emergency has been declared to start at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22. A parking ban will also take effect at that time and all vehicles parked on posted snow emergency arteries will be towed to allow for snow clearing operations. Boston residents with a resident sticker can find a list of free and discounted garages here. Parking at participating garages will begin at 12:00 p.m. today. Discounted parking starts two hours before a declared snow emergency and ends two hours after lifting the emergency.

• Curbside trash and recycling will operate on a delayed schedule. All neighborhoods will experience a one-day delay in trash and recycling service. 

• Please note: Food waste collection will be delayed by one day in all neighborhoods this week. Bulk items, mattress, and textile collections are cancelled. Residents who were scheduled for Monday collection will receive email or phone communication with instructions on how to reschedule. For the most up-to-date information by address and collection type, visit boston.gov/trash-day

• Nighttime street sweeping on main roads, arteries, and commercial roads is canceled until further notice. Updates will be provided on boston.gov when night time street sweeping is scheduled to resume.

• Individuals have 48 hours to use a space saver after the end of an emergency. After that, residents must remove it from the street. 

The Public Works Department (PWD) will have over 900 pieces of equipment on City streets at the height of the storm. Public Works will begin snow removal following the storm, deploying snow removal units as well as bobcats and skid steers to open up crosswalks on main thoroughfares. Public Works has continued to melt snow in snow farms to create more capacity in anticipation of the upcoming snowfall. The PWD has over 35,000 tons of salt on hand ahead of the storm.

Rules on clearing snow:



• Property owners must fully clear snow, sleet and ice from sidewalks and curb ramps abutting the property within three hours after the snowfall ends, or three hours after sunrise if the snow ends overnight. Curb and pedestrian ramps to the street should be cleared fully and continually over the duration of the storm to ensure accessibility for individuals with disabilities. If the storm lasts for an extended period of time, property owners are asked to continually check and clear ramps abutting their property. 

• Removal of snow and ice from a private property to the street or sidewalk is prohibited. 

• Property owners are required by law to clear sidewalks and curb ramps adjacent to their property, all the way down to the concrete, ensuring a 42 inch wide path of travel in order to provide access for wheelchair users, strollers, etc..

• To help prevent further trash and recycling service delays, containers must be fully accessible to collection crews. Dumpsters and access paths must be fully shoveled and cleared of snow and ice so trucks can safely provide service.  

• Failure to comply with these rules can result in fines issued by PWD's Code Enforcement Division. Fines associated with improper removal of snow can be found here.

Information and resources to support individuals experiencing homelessness:

• If you see a person experiencing homelessness or individuals out in the cold who appear immobile, disoriented, or underdressed for the cold, please call 911.

• The Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC) utilizes a city-wide network of emergency shelters, outreach providers, city agencies, and first responders to assist those in need of shelter.

• Boston Public Health Commission's emergency shelters are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and when temperatures are below freezing (32 degrees), amnesty is in place for those with nonviolent restrictions. Men can access shelter at the 112 Southampton Street Shelter, and women should go to the Woods Mullen Shelter at 794 Massachusetts Ave. BPHC and the City also work closely with other shelter providers to ensure that no client is without shelter, food, resources, and a warm respite from the cold.

• Shelters are available any time of day or night for those in need.

• During extreme cold weather, street outreach teams operate with extended hours and provide mobile outreach vans on the streets in the evening and throughout the day.

Heating guidelines for property owners and tenants:

• Following the Massachusetts State Sanitary Code, the heating season officially begins on September 15 and runs through June 15. Property owners must heat habitable spaces at a minimum temperature of 68 degrees between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. and 64 degrees between 11:01 p.m. and 6:59 a.m.

• In case of emergency, property owners are encouraged to keep a list of licensed contractors (electrician, plumber, and general contractor) on file. Tenants experiencing problems with their heating system should check the thermostat, ensure the dial is turned on, and report insufficient or no heat problems to the property owner or manager immediately.

• If your landlord or property manager is unresponsive, call 311 to file a complaint.

Boston Wharf Road No Parking Advisory

updated 06/30/25 at 5:00pm: The closure of Boston Wharf Road scheduled for tomorrow, July 1st, is postponed until the week of July 7th. We will share the new advisory with the exact date and time when the information becomes available. 

The Boston Wharf Road Improvement project continues with the paving, striping and inclusion of bike lanes along Boston Wharf Road from Autumn Lane to Congress Street, and part of West Service Road.  The anticipated completion date of July 11, which may now be pushed out. 

Please be advised that the roadway contractor will be closing Boston Wharf Road between Seaport Blvd and Congress Street on Tuesday, July 1 from 7am until 2pm is postponed to the week of July 7th. They will be working in the roadway adjusting castings and will need the full extent of roadway to get the work done. 

If on the future date, cars are parked along any stretch of Boston Wharf Road , they will be towed.

Paving will be scheduled for the following week. Paving is anticipated to be completed overnight to avoid as much traffic interruption as possible.

Street Sweeping Returns April Through November

 April marks the start of the street cleaning season through November 30th.

The cleaning of Binford Street from A Street to the Channel occurs from 9 am until 1 pm. The odd side of the street (closest to Gillette) will be cleaned on the first and third Tuesdays of the month starting April 2, 2024. The even side (next to the Channelside parking lot) will be cleaned on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month starting April 9th.

The street sweepers will also tackle A Street from Binford to Congress on the 1st & 3d Tuesdays beginning April 2, 2024 from 9 am until 1 pm. 

They will cross over to even side of A Street from Melcher to Congress every 2nd & 4th Tuesday commencing April 11th from 9 am until 1 pm. 

Everyday street cleaning occurs on Congress St (Dorchester Ave to E. Service Rd ), Summer St and Sleeper St from 12:01 am until 7:00 am.

Southie St. Patrick's Day Parade & Road Race This Sunday!

The St. Patrick's/Evacuation Day Parade is Sunday, March 17, 2024. The 3.5 mile parade will begin at 1pm, starting at Broadway Station before making its way past Medal of Honor Park and ending at Andrew Square. Broadway will be closed to traffic from approximately 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Where to watch? If you are looking to take in the parade from one of the many restaurants
along the route, or are looking to take in the parade with the masses, Broadway, especially between Broadway Station and L Street, is a great place to be. If you are looking to avoid the crowds, great options include taking in the parade from Medal of Honor Park or Thomas Park, as well as a street on the route other than Broadway.

The St. Patrick’s Day Road Race will also take place on Sunday beginning at 11 AM.  Runners will follow the famous parade route, 2 hours before the parade steps off.  The race starts and ends at the Boys & Girls Club (230 West 6th), left on Dorchester St, down E Broadway and back to W Broadway, left on E, left on West 6th, and will end at 12 pm. 

Before these two events start is the St. Patrick's Day Breakfast hosted by Senator Collins at the  Ironworkers Local 7 Union Hall and broadcast live starting at 10am on Caught in Southie's Instagram page, Irish Hit Parade Radio and Boston Neighborhood Network Media. 

To accommodate the race and parade and staging/dispersal and clean-up, drivers should expect the following roads to be closed to vehicular traffic. Street closures effected by the parade will start as early as 5 AM and streets closures from the road race will start around 9 AM.

Filming in Fort Point This Thursday. Parking Restrictions Start Wednesday On Medallion & Thursday for A St, Binford & D St.

A new film, titled "Quincy", will be filming in Boston this March and April starring Matt Damon and Casey Affleck.  

On THURSDAY, MARCH 23RD, there will be filming exterior scenes in the Channelside lot at the end of Binford Street, closest to the Harborwalk. Filming times will be from approximately 4PM-8PM.  To facilitate filming, we will need to permit street parking for our production vehicles. See below for dates.  Please be aware of posted parking restrictions. The streets affected include: 

NO PARKING: 

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 22ND (6pm) – THURSDAY, MARCH 23rd (11:59pm)    

• Medallion Ave.; 2 hours spaces in front of the Channel Center garage between Richards St and W. First St.

There is no parking on A Street between Necco and Wormwood Streets Monday - Friday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm starting today, March 9th, through April 7th. Be sure to move your car by tomorrow morning and every weekday morning before 9:30am to avoid it being towed. Please help spread the word to your neighbors. 

The parking restrictions are due to the start of utility work on A Street. Vicinity Energy is running a new steam pipe from their existing service on West 2nd Street to 15 Necco Street, which National Alexandra Real Estate Equities announced will be the future home of Eli Lilly's Institute for Genetic Medicine.

The work is expected to last through the fall. It will be done in sections of approximately 150 feet and when an area is being excavated parking will not be allowed.

The St. Patrick's Day parade returns Sunday, March 20, 2022. The parade will begin at 1 PM starting on West Broadway T Station, continuing to East Broadway and ending at Farragut Road. Broadway will be closed to traffic from approximately 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

In the words of Dave Falvey, Commander, South Boston Allied War Veterans Council: “As the first American city to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day 285 years ago, we’re simply delighted and honored to be holding the parade again after a very long, two-year absence. To have such an iconic Irish brand like Guinness as headline sponsor supporting this year highlights what an important event this parade is and why it is so welcome to be back. The level of interest this year sponsors, participants and the entire community has been incredible, showing how important these twined events are to the fabric of the city of Boston, the region of New England and beyond. We look forward to a fantastic event where all are encouraged to take part.”

"I Wanna Dance With Somebody" Filming At Lucky's

Dear Neighbor, 

We want to thank you in advance for your support of the Film and Television Industry in Massachusetts, your community has been welcoming in the past and that is appreciated! Anthem Films will be filming in your neighborhood, scenes for its new feature film “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”, a biopic based on Whitney Houston’s life. 

Filming is now scheduled to take place at Lucky’s Lounge, 355 Congress St, on Monday, December 6th, 2021, approx. from 7 pm to 12 am.

We will be filming the main entrance to Lucky’s and on the road directly in front, While filming, we will do intermittent traffic control on the street and sidewalks during takes, no more than 3-4 minutes at a time.

What's Happening On A Street?

updated 7/22/21: No parking on A Street from Wormwood to Necco is extended to August 18th.

Vicinity Energy is now executing a plan to bring steam down A Street. 

Steam you say, isn’t that so “old school”? Vicinity has been delivering steam to Boston and Cambridge businesses for over 90 years. 

They are expanding their footprint into our neighborhood and are connecting businesses along A Street to the existing steam pipe on West Second Street. Plans currently are to run steam from the West Second Street pipe to Necco Street in conjunction with 15 Necco Life Sciences building.

The project will run in phases with step one, test pits, being dug over the next week. Don't forget the parking restrictions on A Street from Wormwood to Necco every Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm until July 21, 2021. The project will eventually progress into full excavation along one lane of A Street. Construction will complete in the summer of 2022. 

Police will manage vehicular traffic as needed, appropriate sidewalk detours will be in place and parking restrictions will be posted. If you have any questions on the A Street Steam project, call Vicinity Energy's 24 hour service line at 617-482-8232.

Limited Parking On Binford Street

Starting June 25th through July 3, 2019 from 7 am to 3:30 pm, there will be limited parking on Binford Street between A Street and Medallion Avenue due to excavation work to make the final connection of an intermediate gas main extension down A St to Necco. 

Be sure to check your car as the excavation may be occurring at different spots along the area as the work is completed. 

The contractor, Feeney Brothers, appreciates everyone’s patience and cooperation during the project.

Parking Restrictions Update Due To Road Excavation Work

updated 04/16/19:  Effective Thursday April 18, 2019 there will be no weekday parking from 9:30 am through 3:30 pm on Melcher Street starting with the spots closest to A St. Look for orange cones before you park and anticipate that the cones will shift a little from day to day. 

Road excavation work to extend an intermediate gas main down A Street to Necco St via Melcher St is progressing.  A parking ban is in effect weekdays during the hours of 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. If you park on A Street or Melcher Street, avoid being towed by keeping an eye out for parking restrictions by block. 


Currently, road work is occurring on A St from Wormwood St toward Melcher St.  It is anticipated that the crew will turn onto Melcher St by the end of the next week (April 5). If you park on A St or Melcher St, check for cones denoting no parking tow zones.  If someone you know parks on Melcher St, please be neighborly and let them know. 

Expect delays at the intersection at A & Melcher due to the installation and underground utilities.
