April 22: Sustainable Photography Reception (cancelled) on Earth Day from 6pm to 8pm at Midway Gallery's Art Tunnel at Midway Artist Studios, 15 Channel Center St. Mona Miri's solo exhibition explores the delicate state of our changing landscapes. The show is extended through May 30, 2026. 

April 23: Planar Shifts Opening Reception from 5pm to 7pm at the Atlantic Wharf Gallery, 290 Congress Street. This exhibition features Mother Brook Arts & Community Center artists who use parts to compose a whole, deconstruct “wholes” into parts, or blend abstraction and representation in innovative ways. Planar Shifts runs through July 5, 2026.

April 23: Martwa Natura Opening Reception from 6pm to 8pm at the Gallery at 249 A features work by Anna Leliwa. The subject of still life (in Polish martwa natura, literally “dead nature” or “mortal nature”) as interpreted by the artist is a reflection on life that shows flowers, vessels, or fruit sometimes carry meanings far deeper than their decorative appearance. The show runs through May 23, 2026. The Gallery at 249 A is located within the 249 A Street Artist Cooperative at 249 A Street.

April 25: A Street Park Community Garden Lottery at 9am at the Community Gardens. Don't miss it! The next lottery will be in approximately three years. 

April 25: Fort Point's 21st Annual Love Your Block Spring Cleanup at 10am. Meet in Wormwood Park (Wormwood & A Streets).  

April 26: Community Art Event from 1pm to 3pm at Masary Studios. Let's move! Join in this fun, social event and dance zumba style to bhangra beats and unbeatable rhythms for a good cause. Donations will support laborers in India and in Boston. Venmo @wellgoodmove. Masery Studios is located at Midway Artist Studios, 15 Channel Center Street.

April 26: Harbor Harmonies - The Soul of Epirus from 3pm to 4pm at FPAC Art Space, 70A Sleeper St. The Soul of Epirus is a program rooted in Traditional Greek music that brings together two Grammy-nominated composer-performers: Epirus-born laouto virtuoso Vasilis Kostas and Cypriot percussionist George Lernis.

There will be one garden plot open this season. Please be prepared to start planting by June 1st. In 2027, two plots will become available. Names will be drown for these three plots plus the waiting list.  Everyone on the waiting list will receive a plot. 

If you are unable to attend, you may send a proxy/representative providing a completed Proxy form is emailed to FPNA by April 24th at 5pm. Your Proxy may be involved in plot selection.

Immediately following the lottery is Fort Point's 21st Annual Love Your Block Spring Cleanup at 10am at Wormwood Park.

Fort Point Festival & Arts Marketplace Debuts In Partnership With Roundhead Brewing & Fresh Food Generation

updated 06/12/24 with exciting opportunity for musicians to perform from 3pm to 8pm on June 22nd. 

The Fort Point Neighborhood Association, in collaboration with 249 A St Artists Cooperative, The Artist Building at 300 Summer St, Midway Artist Studios, The Muse at 63 Melcher, and FPAC, is excited to announce the first ever Fort Point Festival and Arts Marketplace. 

This family-friendly event is held in partnership with the Alianza Park Series*, a beer garden by Roundhead Brewing with Fresh Food Generation's pop-up, occurring at the A St Park.

The Fort Point Festival & Arts Marketplace will be on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 12pm to 8pm. This change from a two day to one day festival is at the suggestion of our artist participants.

There is limited spaces available. If you are an artist or artisan who would like to join us and sell your work at our open-air art market, the fee for one of the 24 available spaces is $25 for the day and artists will retain 100% of their sales proceeds. 

If you are interested in participating, please fill out the Google form or scan the QR code above. Applications will be accepted on a rolling acceptance basis until Friday, June 14th.

If you are a musician interested in performing at the Fort Point Festival & Arts Marketplace, there are slots available from 3pm to 8pm on June 22nd, Please email us by June 18th. 

*The Alianza Park Series, offering community based activations through food, beverages, art, music and games, is taking place Wednesday to Sunday at seven City of Boston Parks throughout the summer. Allianza will be at A Street Park from June 19 through June 23 and June 26 through June 30.

Boston Blooms is a city wide program beautifying neighborhoods by planting daffodils generously donated by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department.

Dunkin’ will brew up even more fun with customized lawn games and gift card giveaways. Residents at each event will also be eligible to win a raffle prize from Dunkin’. 

In addition, each family in attendance will receive a free flowering plant provided by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, while supplies last. Are Better Bike Lanes Coming to A Street?

After the Vicinity Energy project (bringing steam to 15 Necco) is complete, A Street will be resurfaced. At that time, the City of Boston will change portions of the existing bike lanes on A Street between West Second Street and Binford Street.

The Boston Transportation Department will be at A Street Park on the following dates to talk about the coming bike lane changes: 

• Wednesday, July 27, 7:30 - 9 a.m.
• Thursday, July 28, 5 - 6:30 p.m.
• Monday, August 1, 5 - 6:30 p.m.
• Tuesday, August 2, 7:30 - 9 a.m.
• Thursday, August 4, 7:30 - 9 a.m.

Bike or walk on over. The Boston Transportation Department works to make bicycling fun, safe, and convenient. A Street Park is bordered by Richards Streets, Medallion Avenue and W 1st Street.

Netflix "Don't Look Up" To Be Filmed At Artists For Humanity

In case you missed the film crews around Melcher St, Netflix Productions will be continuing to film scenes for their feature film, DON'T LOOK UP, in the neighborhood. This time filming will take place in Artists For Humanity at 100 West 2nd Street.  

Filming is scheduled to take place on Monday, January 4th and Tuesday, January 5th.

There will be parking restrictions in effect starting Monday, December 28th through Friday, January 8th for prep, shooting and wrap. Equipment trucks will be parking on the following streets:

Your Friday Night Lineup

We have your outdoor Fort Point Friday night (August 4, 2017) lineup.

From 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm, CLF (Conservation Law Foundation) invites you to the inaugural Pitch A Blanket Day. Come out and celebrate the use of the public spaces along the Boston Harbor and the Fort Point Channel that are guaranteed for our public use and access under Massachusetts State Law, Chapter 91. The three chosen locations are: Intercontinental Hotel, Fan Pier Park, and the Public Green near Fan Pier. Grab your neighbors, picnic blankets, snacks, and lawn games. While enjoying a fun, beautiful evening outdoors, show that having free access to the water whether it be the Boston Harbor or the Fort Point Channel is important to you. End your evening at the A Street Park at Channel Center with a free screening of  Jean de Florette presented at 8:30 pm by the Fort Point Stage as part of their Summer 2017 Impromptu Outdoor Movie Nights. A greedy landowner (Yves Montand) and his backward nephew conspire to block the only water source for an adjoining property in order to bankrupt the owner (Gerard Depardieu) and force him to sell..The movie is rated PG and runs 2 hours. Bring a chair, picnic blanket or beach towel and sit out under the stars with your neighbors. The proposed project extends the existing South Bay Harbor Trail shared use path behind Gillette to Dorchester Avenue, including Traveler St. and West 4th Street to Albany Road at Union Park Street. The total approximate project length is 0.85 miles. A secure right-of- way is necessary for this project. Acquisitions in fee and permanent or temporary easements may be required. The City of Boston is responsible for acquiring all needed rights in private or public lands. MassDOT’s policy concerning land acquisitions will be discussed at this hearing.

In celebration of historic preservation month, Boston by Foot hosted a special walking tour of Fort Point on Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 6 pm - 7:30 pm. The tour will focus on the Channel itself from how it came to be through the activities of the Boston Wharf Company, South Station development, the Central Artery/Tunnel Project, and recent activation efforts. It will feature the workings of its three remaining historic bridges, plus the memories of the Mt. Washington, the rolling bridges at South Station, and the ambitious cofferdam. The tour starts at James Hook, 440 Atlantic Avenue (corner of Atlantic & Seaport Boulevard). Tickets are $15. More details.

Fort Point Celebrates First Public Park

Fort Point is celebrating its first permanent public park today. The 1.6 acre A Street Park was accepted today by vote of the Boston Park Commission as the city's newest and Fort Point's first public park. The A Street Park is bordered by Richards, Medallion and W. 1st Streets. Built as a permanent public benefit in exchange for development rights, the new park, completed last summer features a half basketball court, dog park, community gardens, a children's play area and a flexible field. The park was acquired by the City with an ongoing agreement for maintenance and capital repair to be provided by the development group. More details to follow.
