Fort Point Channel Paddleboard Yoga and Boston Harbor Paddles This Summer

Summer is coming. SUP YO Adventures will be returning to the Fort Point Pier in June.  SUP Yoga will be teaching paddle board yoga and leading Boston Harbor paddle adventures every Wednesday and Sunday through August. 

Sundays at 10:30AM: Boston Harbor Paddle 
Wednesdays at 6:15PM: Sunset Paddle Board Yoga

Prices include all equipment and no experience is required to participate!

Public Summer Safety Meeting This Wednesday

 As the summer quickly approaches, the Mayor’s Office will begin a Community Listening Tour Series. The Community Listening Tour is an opportunity for community members to share their opinions and ideas on the City’s violence prevention, intervention, and recovery efforts that will be in place this summer, all while we build community connections among leaders, residents, and city agencies alike. South Boston's Listening Tour is:

The goals of this Listening Tour will be to:

1. Begin engaging the community in the summer safety strategy planning process;
2. Have a guided and authentic dialogue about issues surrounding and solutions to community
violence;
3. Gauge the needs, wants, hopes of the community members that have been impacted by
community violence;
4. Continue to build relationships with and within the community

The conversations shall be free-flowing, but will be roughly guided by the following questions:
1. What is one thing you hope to get out of these meetings? One thing that you hope to come from these meetings?
2. When you think about violence in your communities, what do you think is needed most to reduce this violence?
3. What isn’t working in your communities? What is working in your communities?
4. What is your vision for your neighborhood? What does a safe and healthy community look like to you?
5. Are you connected to solutions in your community? How would you like to be in contact with the City?

The primary goal here is to allow community members to offer insight on what they feel works in terms of community violence reduction during the summer months, and to gain feedback on how the presented ideas can be best implemented in communities across Boston. Additionally, we will begin conversations about the more broad, public-health-oriented city-wide violence prevention plan to reduce all forms of community violence.

249 A St. Artists Cooperative Celebrates 40 Years with Art Exhibition at Atlantic Wharf Gallery

The 249 A Street Artists Cooperative announces the Artists of 249 A Street Cooperative: 40th Anniversary Exhibition, featuring the works of forty of its member artists. The exhibition is at the Atlantic Wharf Gallery (290 Congress St.) and runs now through August 11, 2023. The exhibition is free and open to the public from 7AM to 10PM.

An opening reception will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 5:30 -7:30 pm. 

The exhibition showcases work from members in diverse styles and mediums, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, and photography. 

The exhibition also includes photographs of the Coop’s historic building, accompanied by historical information about how the cooperative came to be. The cooperative model allows artists to collaborate, share resources, and support each other in their creative endeavors.

It is also an opportunity to showcase some of the high number of artists living and working in historic Fort Point. "We're thrilled to present this exhibition of our members' work," said Steven Muller, President. "It's a testament to the strength and creativity of our community, and a chance for us to share our art with a wider audience." 

Visitors are welcome to view the works on display, and learn more about the positive effects and contributions of the 249 A Street Artists Cooperative to the community.

Transit Advisory: Silver Line Detours 5/5 through 5/7

Please be advised that Silver Line detours will be in place on May 5 at 8:45 p.m. and during the weekend of May 6-7, 2023.

Silver Line Routes 1, 2, and 3 will be re-routed to the street level around Courthouse Station beginning at approximately 8:45 p.m. on May 5 and during the weekend of May 6-7.


This service change will allow for improvement work to take place at Courthouse Station. Signage will be in place during all scheduled changes in service to direct riders to shuttle bus stops. Extra MBTA personnel and Transit Ambassadors will also be on-hand to assist riders.

Traffic Advisory: Seaport Blvd Westbound Lane Closure, Seaport Lane to B Street

Please be advised that that from Thursday, May 4th to Thursday, May 18th the westbound lanes of Seaport Boulevard from Seaport Lane to B Street will be closed for full roadway reconstruction.  

Detour Routes:

From Northern Avenue East: At the D Street Intersection turn left to and continue to Congress Street. Continue on Congress street East until B Street.  Turn Right onto B Street and continue to Seaport Boulevard. Turn Left onto Seaport Boulevard.  

Seaport Hotel Traffic from Northern Avenue East: As normal, continue past detour signage at D Street intersection and turn left onto Seaport Lane.  

Timing: The westbound lanes will be closed at all times between May 4-May 18. 

Purpose: The roadway is being reconstructed as part of the Commonwealth Pier Revitalization Project to provide revised drainage and to reconstruct the center median.  

The Roadway reconstruction includes the following scope of work: 

Establishing work safety zone consisting of traffic barriers, gates, and construction fencing

Full depth removal of the existing roadway system using excavators with material being trucked offsite  

Raising roadway elevation up to 18 inches across the entire Westbound lanes via new subgrade materials delivered by truck 

Grading, preparing, and compacting the subgrade materials in preparation for binder course paving

Adjusting approximately twenty manholes, castings, and other utility structures

Installation of binder course asphalt paving

Delivery and installation of approximately 1,600 linear feet of granite curbing to create new roadway median

Binder course asphalt infill at areas of curb installation

Installation of temporary roadway markings

A State Police Detail will be stationed at the intersection of Seaport Lane and Seaport Boulevard throughout the period of roadway reconstruction.

Raymond L. Flynn Marine Park Final Master Plan Update Chapter 91 Public Meeting May 4th


The Boston Planning & Development Agency (BPDA) has submitted an application to the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (“DEP”) for a Consolidated Written Determination pursuant to 310 CMR 9:00 related to the
Final Master Plan Update ("FMPU") for the Raymond L. Flynn Marine Park (RLFMP)

Thursday, May 4, 2023
2pm - 4pm

The purpose of this license application is to secure a Consolidated Written Determination (“CWD”) that allows for the redevelopment of certain parcels proposed in the RLFMP FMPU that are ineligible for authorization under the existing Master License #10233 to be licensed individually upon request. These specific parcels, detailed in Section 4 of the application, are anticipated to be redeveloped in phases over a period of years. The CWD will enable the DEP to regulate the future build-out of the RLFMP and ensure that impacts of individual projects are addressed in individual licenses.

Water Main Flushing Starts May 2nd - June 6

The Boston Water and Sewer Commission (BWSC) will commence Water Main Flushing in the Central, South End, North End, Seaport and South Boston areas starting:

May 2, 2023 through June 6, 2023
10:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M.

The purpose of the water main flushing program is to improve the drinking water quality for residents and businesses in Boston.

The flushing process may cause discolored water and a reduction in pressure. The discoloration of the water will be temporary and is not harmful. If the condition persists, please contact BWSC's 24 Hour Service at (617) 989-7000.

A list of neighborhood streets and hydrants include:  A ST, CHANNEL CENTER ST,  WORMWOOD ST, NECCO ST., SUMMER ST, NECCO CT, MEDALLION AV, FARNSWORTH ST.,THOMSON PL, SEAPORT BLVD and COURTHOUSE WY.
