A Ship Lighting, An Amphitheater, Paperclips, A Yeti, A Trolley & More Are Coming Your Way

What do a ship lighting, an amphitheater, paperclips, a yeti and a trolley have in common? They are all happening in, around and about our neighborhood. 

This Saturday (11/30) is the 4th annual Lighting of the Ship at Martin’s Park from 4pm to 6pm. Don't miss Santa's arrival by boat from the Fort Point Channel with the help of the Boston  Harbor Police Unit.

  

December 2: 244-284 A Street (Channelside) Public Parks Workshop #2 at 6pm featuring the amphitheater at the waterfront Fort Point Park. December 5: South Boston Christmas Stroll, Shop, Dine & Splurge, starting at 4pm.The Stroll will feature Santa Claus riding on an antique fire truck followed by an up-and-coming MusicBall singer. 

December 5: The 249 A Street Artists Cooperative cordially invites you to the opening of PAPERCLIPS, a Holiday Exhibit of (mostly) Works on Paper, from 6pm to 8pm at the Gallery at 249 A. Discover unique gifts of original artwork under $200 plus ornaments and stocking stuffers at $25 or less. Paperclips is open by appointment by contacting fortpointstudio@gmail.com through January 4, 2025. 

December 6: Light Up Seaport celebrates the season with holiday tunes, a celeb appearance by Betty the Yeti, and more from 6pm to 9pm at 85 Northern Ave.

December 7 & 8: 2nd Annual Christmas & Holiday Market at The LOT from 12-8pm and 12-6pm.

December 8: Mayor Wu's Enchanted Trolley Tour will be bringing holiday spirit to kids big and small at Medal of Honor Park at 2pm. Don't miss the lighting of tree, Mayor Wu, and Santa too. Starting at 1:30pm, enjoy hot chocolate, holiday crafts and music, and gingerbread decorating.

Reserved Channel Project, approximately 1,739,000 square feet of development in eight new buildings. Building uses are proposed to include a variety of commercial, research and development, civic, residential, and ground floor uses.

May 31: Mayor Wu's South Boston Coffee Hour at the Medal of Honor Park from 9:30am to 10:30am. It' a great opportunity to talk to the Mayor and City department heads about neighborhood issues and ideas. You can even get a free plant grown by the Parks Department.

May 31: Comment deadline on the Cannabis Zoning Amendment to remove 1/2 mile buffer between establishments. The intent of the existing buffer zone is to prevent cannabis establishments from opening in clusters to ensure that no particular neighborhood would become the center for cannabis shops, and to ensure that dispensaries are spread out in the city, while allowing access to patients and customers. View amendment and public meeting. June 1: 13th Annual Southie Family Fun Day hosted by the MOMS Club of South Boston from 11 am to 4 pm at DCR Marine Park, 98 Farragut Park. Free.

June 5: Conservation Commission Meeting at 6pm, includes 7 Channel Center St. NOI and related stormwater report regarding the demolition and construction and 232 A Street request for a determination of applicability. 

June 6: Life Science Public Safety In Person Public Meeting at 6pm at 105 W 1st St. This  is a public meeting in partnership with the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC), Boston Fire Department, and Boston Emergency Medical Services to discuss the public safety protocols and regulatory responsibilities currently in place for the Boston Life Sciences industry.  

June 8: Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series 2024 from 12pm to 3pm at The ICA.

In The Holiday Spirit Saturday, November 27: The City of Boston, Friends of Martin's Park and the Boston Parks & Recreation Department invite you to the Martin's Park Ship Holiday Lighting With Santa who will be arriving by boat, of course. This free, fun, festive event runs from 4pm - 6pm. The Friends of Martin's Park are also looking for day of event volunteers. More details. Snowport Holiday Market now through January 2nd and Curling runs through February 2022. Thursday, December 2: South Boston Christmas Stroll starts at 4pm with Santa riding in an antique fire truck. East & West Broadway. The Stroll kicks off "Shop, Dine & Splurge" events the next two Thursdays, December 9 & 16.
