Time To Gear Up For New Year's Celebrations

Celebrate New Year's in and around the neighborhood. 

Boston Harbor Now invites you to the sixth annual New Year's Eve on the Waterfront. Filled with family friendly activities including a Harbor Map Tour at the Boston Harbor Hotel, Touch-a-Truck with First Responders at the Envoy Hotel, a Ice Sculpture Stroll and for the big kids midnight fireworks. 



This year's ice sculpture stroll will transform the Downtown and South Boston Waterfront and Harborwalk into a magical, winter wonderland come Monday, December 31st. Stroll hours are 1 pm to  4 pm. Visit all 16 ice sculptures and take selfies to enter in a Waterfront 'Staycation' Giveaway Contest. Download the official Waterfront Ice Sculpture and Fireworks Map (PDF) and use the included coupon for all-day discounted parking ($20.19) for New Year's Eve at the Boston Harbor Garage (270 Atlantic Avenue).

Ring in the year watching fireworks at midnight over the Boston Harbor. The fireworks are generously sponsored by Boston Harbor Now, City of Boston, Friends of Christopher Columbus Park and the Wharf District Council. Suggested viewing locations are: Fan Pier, Christopher Columbus Park and the East Boston Harborwalk.

The L Street Brownies continue in the footsteps of thousands before them over the last one hundred years by taking the plunge into the Boston Harbor on New Year's day. The event starts at 9 am on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at  the L Street Bathhouse. Meet up with your neighbors first at the L Street Tavern at 8 am and enjoy a personal escort by 103rd Postal Fire Column Pipes and Drums to the plunge. Spectators welcome. If diving into freezing water is not your thing, Murphy Memorial Rink in South Boston will be holding free public skating hours on New Year’s Day from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.  

However you celebrate the New Year whether it be in Fort Point, the Seaport or from afar, FPNA (Fort Point Neighborhood Association) wishes you, our neighbors and friends, a very Happy New Year.

Fort Point Channel Opens To Rowers & Painters Plus Fireworks Tonight

Updated 6/11/18: The Tuesday, June 12th World Trade Center fireworks show is confirmed at 9 pm. Earlier that evening from 5 pm - 7:30 pm is the Taste of Seaport at Fan Pier featuring 25 restaurants, lawn games and music. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the event. If that is not enough the Portuguese tall ship Sagres is in dock and available for tours.

Look up to the sky tonight, Friday June 8, beginning at 9:30 pm to see fireworks over the Boston Harbor. Fireworks will be launched from Columbia Point, displayed over Dorchester Bay and viewable from beaches along Dorchester and South Boston.The fireworks show is a part of a series of public activations and celebratory events being offered in part of the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) Annual Meeting being hosted in Boston this week. There is also talk of fireworks on Tuesday, June 12th around 9 pm in the vicinity of the Seaport World Trade Center.

Artists are invited to paint (or draw!) the vibrant Fort Point Channel scene, including the museum’s traditional wooden boats and colorful race day. The Paint Out will take place at InterContinental Boston on Friday and Saturday, June 8th & 9th from 8 am to 4 pm.  A reception at InterContinental Boston will immediately follow the conclusion of the Fort Point Channel Open race on Saturday, June 9th, during which all works of art will be sold by silent auction.  The museum will receive a 30% commission on all auction sales to support our Boston Rowing Center, which provides free rowing to more than 300 Boston Public School students each year.

The Fort Point Channel Open will take place on Saturday, June 9th at the Hull Lifesaving Museum's Boston Rowing Center. Entering its 7th year, the Fort Point Channel Open is a community-wide event, bringing rowers and spectators from all over the region to Fort Point.  Competitors from across New England and New York come primed and ready to lay claim to the title of crewmaster.
This event is a Coxed Four challenge.  Teams line up side by side in a series of round-robin style heats. The course runs around the Boston Tea Party Museum ships, blasting under bridges and around tight turns, ending in a sprint for the finish line in front of Martin Richard's park next to the Boston Children's Museum.  
The race is open to crews of all skill levels.

Summer To Go Out With A Bang

The City of Boston and Summer on the Waterfront will be celebrating Labor Day with fireworks on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 9 pm on the Boston Harbor. The fireworks mark the finale of Summer on the Waterfront events. The fireworks barge will be moored off of Fan Pier.

Best local viewing: The Harborwalk from Fort Point to the Seaport, Fan Pier, Castle Island, waterfront restaurants or a cruise. The fireworks display coincides with the annual Boston “Ahts” Festival at Christopher Columbus Park and  St. Anthony’s Feast on Endicott Street in Boston’s North End. 

The fireworks are sponsored by Boston Harbor Cruises, the Boston Harbor Hotel, the Boston Globe and the City of Boston.

Fireworks on Fan Pier Tonight

As part of the Extreme Sailing event, there will be fireworks in the harbor tonight at ~9:30 PM.   

The Coast Guard has established a safety zone for boats:


SUMMARY: The Coast Guard is establishing a temporary safety zone within
the Sector Boston Captain of the Port (COTP) Zone for the Fan Pier
Yacht Club Fireworks display. This safety zone is necessary to provide
for the safety of life on navigable waters during the fireworks event.
Entering into, transiting through, mooring or anchoring within this
zone is prohibited unless authorized by the COTP or the designated on-
scene representative.

DATES: This rule is effective and will be enforced from 9:30 p.m. to 10
p.m. on June 30, 2011.

Fireworks tonight, on the channel, 9 PM



 

There's a "stadium style" fireworks display tonight on Fort Point Channel at the Intercontinental Hotel.  It should start around 9 PM and last 10 minutes.

To Whom It May Concern:

There is a stadium style pyrotechnics display scheduled for Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at approximately 2100 hours. The location will be in the Fort Point Channel behind the Inter Continental Hotel between Congress St and Sea Port Blvd. The show is scheduled for about ten (10) minutes.
