Fun Free Events This Weekend

On Friday, September 26, 2025, experience a Seaport Spectacular from the Summer Street Steps to the Rocks at Harbor Way starting at 4:30pm until 7:30pm. Enjoy live music, carnival games, caricatures by robot artists, an AI interactive digital graffiti wall, and drinks and food available for purchase. All are welcome to attend this free event. 

On Saturday, September 27th, cheer on community and corporate dragon boat teams participating in Ohana New England (ONE) Dragon Boat Club Invitational Beasts from the East Classic from 9am to 3pm. Dragon boating is a team sport where up to 20 paddlers, plus a steerer and a drummer, work together to propel a boat through the water. 

Bring your household hazardous waste and papers to be shredded to the Public Works Facility at 200 Frontage Road during Zero Waste Day on September 27th from 8:30am to 12pm.  View accepted items list. 

FPAC Harbor Harmonies Accordionist Mattias Kaufmann and pianist Hua Ye will be performing a free concert on Sunday, September 28th at 3pm in the Fort Point Room at Atlantic Wharf (290 Congress St)!

5/17: OWLL presents a stage reading of "Disability on Trial", a play by Jim Rice, at 7:30pm at the Midway Lab on the first floor of Midway Artist Studios, 15 Channel Center Street. OWLL is a grassroots collective of BIPOC, White, and Differently Abled Artists who commit their art for racial and social justice.

Boston residents can safely dispose of hazardous waste, shred unwanted documents, get rid of textiles and clothing, and recycle electronics for free. You will need to shop proof of residency.

• Latex and acrylic paint are NOT hazardous. Just let the paint dry out in the can and put it out on your trash day.
• Paper shredding is offered at all of events. Maximum amount is up to 10 copy paper size boxes or containers of your personal documents.
• All clothing and textiles, including pants, coats, hats, and suits. As long as it’s dry and not moldy, we want it. But, there are certain items excluded.
• You can also recycle electronics at this event. We don't take commercial material from businesses. Learn more about what electronics you can — and can't — recycle.

The City of Boston’s Public Works Department is hosting a household-waste drop-off this weekend for Boston residents. Boston residents may drop-off their unwanted textiles, household appliances, electronics, and hazardous waste items on:

Want to get rid of those personal documents taking up unwanted space in your home? Paper shredding is available up to 10 copy paper size boxes or containers.

The City of Boston Public Works will collect and recycle electronic waste, household hazardous waste and shred confidential documents for free this Saturday.

Acceptable electronic materials are: computers, monitors, televisions, LCD panels, printers, other computer related equipment, stereos, cell and other phones, power supplies, electronic games, VCRs, circuit boards, microwaves, and other household electronic devices. CDs and CD cases. Electronic materials NOT accepted are: Air conditioners, dehumidifiers, refrigerators, and  white goods such as washers, dryers, and stoves. For disposal of the italicized items, call (617) 635-4500 to arrange a special pickup. You may put the other items curbside for regular trash pickup

Residents can also safely shred and recycle unwanted confidential documents at no charge. There is a ten box shredding limit. This offer is not open to businesses. 

Boston residents can also safely dispose of household hazardous waste from 9 am - 2 pm at UMass Boston Parking Lot D in Dorchester.  Residents may bring up to 50 pounds of products labeled toxic, flammable, reactive, corrosive, or poisonous, such as: oil-based paint, motor oil, pesticides, solvents, glues, bleach or ammonia-based cleaners, weed killers, photo chemicals, pool chemicals, tires, propane tanks, car batteries, and used motor oil.No Latex/Acrylic paint allowed (it's not hazardous and can be disposed of with regular trash.)

Boston residents must show proof of residency.
