2nd Annual Ship Lighting in Martin's Park

The City of Boston, the Friends of Martin's Park and the Boston Parks and

Recreation Department will host the 2nd Annual Holiday Lighting of the

signature Wooden Play Ship located in Martin’s Park on Saturday, November

26, beginning at 4 p.m.

Located at 64 Sleeper Street at the Smith Family Waterfront in Boston’s

Seaport, Martin’s Park will be transformed into a beautiful holiday display

when the park’s wooden play ship, surrounding beach fencing and pedestrian

bridge are illuminated with over 1500 feet of blue and white tube lights.

Visible from the Northern Avenue Bridge and the Smith Family Waterfront,

visitors are encouraged to head inside the park for the celebration. Watch as

Santa arrives by boat at the Harborwalk and enters the Park to switch on the

lights.

Entertainment will be provided by Ball In The House, performing a selection

of holiday classics, along with special guest the Seaport’s own Betty the Yeti.

Santa Is Coming To Martin's Park

Santa Claus is arriving by boat and landing at the Harborwalk. From there Santa will enter Martin's Park and magically illuminate the much loved wooden play ship on:

Join Santa for some hot cocoa, caroling, and holiday fun. Hot cocoa will be provided by Flour Bakery and Tuscan Kitchen. Entertainment is by the a cappella group, Ball In The House, performing a selection of holiday classics, along with special guest, the Seaport’s Betty the Yeti.

Martin's Park, built in memory of eight-year-old Martin W. Richard, a victim of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, is an inclusive, resilient Boston City Park along the Fort Point Channel at the Smith Family Waterfront next to the Boston Children's Museum.

The Martin's Park Ship Lighting is presented by Friends of Martin's Park and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department. The Friends of Martin's Park is looking for volunteers to help:

set up starting around 2pm
serve hot cocoa

manage the photo props

breakdown around 6pm 
Sunday walk through to make sure the Park is shipshape

Toys To Give. Toys to Receive. 'Tis The Season

updated 12/16/20: This just in from the North Pole- Santa will be arriving Tuesday, December 22, 2020.  The toy drive continues this weekend online and at BCEC.

Santa Claus is coming to town next week and there will be toys to receive plus a Toy Drive for local children.

Santa will be up on BPD's balcony & sending toys down his slide to the kids below. Kids will receive a gift bag from  Mayor Walsh plus a toy and other treats. 

PAW PATROL'S CHASE, TROLLS POPPY, SPONGEBOB, THE GRINCH AND others will be there to say 'hi'  while you wait in line.

There will be both a drive up & walk up option to see Santa.  If you'd like to drive up to receive the gift, please pull in front of the station and someone will bring your gift over to your car. There will be a socially distanced line on the sidewalk for walk ups.

Unwrapped toys for girls and boys (0 to 15 years old) can be dropped off at Boston Civic and Exhibition Center (BCEC) loading Dock. Enter via the West Gate entrance off of Cyher Street. Containers will be on site for contactless drop-off. 

Toys will stay in the neighborhood and go to children at West Broadway.
