This Week and Next Week In The Neighborhood

September 5: 232 A Street Impact Advisory Group Public Meeting at 6pm The Proposed Project will construct a single-building 455,050 gsf lab/office/R&D development located at 232 A Street on the G8 parcel of 100 Acres Planned Development Area plus a waterfront park on the adjacent G7 parcel along Fort Point Channel. The public is welcome to attend and listen. Register 

September 5: The developer filed a combined Project Notification Form (Article 80) and Environmental Notification Form (MEPA); therefore, both City & State review processes are occurring around the same time with the MEPA comment deadline currently scheduled for  now extended to September 19th. Comments may be sent to Nick Perry.

September 6: CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SAFETY AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE HEARING AT 10AM ON DOCKET #1043 to discuss increasing emergency services in tandem with population growth. For details for on providing written or verbal testimony (comments), click here.

September 6: Conservation Commission Public Meeting at 6pm. South and East Jetty (3 Dolphin Way) is on the agenda.

September 9: Insight Global: Be The Light hosted by WS Development will prepare you for your dream job. The event is from 9am-4pm at 88 Seaport Blvd. 

September 9: "State of Emergency, State of the Earth" art opening reception (
4:30pm to 6:30pm) and runway show at 7pm at Midway Artist Studios. More details.

September 9: A Potter and A Painter- Creative Collaboration opening reception from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at FPAC's Assemblage at the Envoy Hotel, 70 Sleeper St

Around Fort Point This Weekend

There is a little something for everyone this weekend. Explore South Boston history. Discover Polish culture and tradition. Test your taste buds. See and buy art. Shop. Be entertained. Enjoy!

SouthBoston Street Festival
Eat, shop and be entertained by the Best of South Boston merchants, restaurants, service providers, artists and community organizations Saturday, September 15th from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on East Broadway between “I” and “L” Streets.  

The  South Boston Historical Society will run free 25-minute neighborhood trolley tours from the South Boston Street Festival. The tour will feature a stop at St. Augustine Chapel, continuing on to Old Colony and a peak at the beach, circling back to the start at I Street and Broadway.   The trolley will run  from noon until 3, last departure at 2:30 pm.

St. Augustine’s 200th Anniversary Celebration:  
All weekend!  Tours starting at 8:00 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning, and end at 8:00 pm on Friday, 7:30 pm on Saturday, and 4:00 pm on Sunday.


ATK (America's Test Kitchen) Boston EATS Cooking, Food & Wine Festival

Saturday, September 14 2pm - 5pm. Join award-winning Boston chefs for interactive tasting stations, wine, beer & spirits, book signings, main stage demos, music and much more at ATK's home in the Seaport at 21 Drydock Ave.

ATK Kids Fest  Sunday, September 15, 2018 11am - 1:30pm There will here will be live cooking and science demos, interactive tasting and activity stations, face-painting, music, and more. Demos and activities are geared towards kids ages 8 - 13, but the event is suitable for all ages.

32nd Annual South End Open Studios is Saturday, September 15th and Sunday, September 16th from 11 am to 6 pm. Visit over 200  artist plus local galleries displaying work by national and international artists. 








Polish Harvest Festival:  Sunday, September 16th from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish at 655 Dorchester Ave.  Great entertainment for the whole family!  Learn about Polish culture, heritage and traditions and enjoy the amazing homemade Polish food!!!

A Weekend of Art, Music, Dance & Shopping

Have you explored the shops and restaurants along Broadway? This Saturday, September 16th from 11 am to 4 pm, the South Boston Chamber of Commerce brings the best of Southie together on East Broadway from L to I Streets. A hundred local merchants, artists and organizations are participating and special discounts are available. There will be live music, performances and activities for kids. Did we mention food? Over in the South End, over 200 artists are celebrating the 31st annual South End Fall Open Studios. The event takes place September 16 - September 17, 2017 from 11 am - 6 pm.  Visit artist work studios and galleries representing local and international artists. On the way over, be sure to check out the murals in the Underground beneath the expressway.

South Boston Street Festival This Saturday

Eat, shop and be entertained at the sixteenth annual South Boston Street Festival this Saturday, September 19, 2015 from 11 am to 4 pm. The festival takes place on East Broadway between I Street and L Street. 

Come browse and shop at over 100 local merchants, artists and organizations. The Fort Point Neighborhood Association will be there along with sister South Boston neighborhood associations.



Grab eats from some favorite restaurants such as Fort Point's Lucky's Lounge and many more...

Karen K and The Jitterbugs will be performing for the children as well as Southie band Thomas Park and more...

There will be special performances by The Peggy Wood School of Irish Step Dance and The Ultimate Self Defense & Performance Center.
