Proposed Work: Install new metal panel signage “portal” at existing facade entry with matching metal cladding at existing archways, exterior sconces and recessed lighting.

II.  ADMINISTRATIVE REVIEW/APPROVAL

APP # 25.1055 FPC 51 SLEEPER STREET: Emergency repair approval for in kind masonry repairs including repointing, removal and replacement in kind of spauld brick, spot was where repointing has taken place.

APP # 26.0016 FPC 311 SUMMER STREET: Emergency repair approval for damaged concrete at the corner entrance of the building and slope will be corrected for accessibility. Will be repaired in kind with removal of the existing concrete in a manner that will avoid a patched look for a unified appearance. Automatic door opener installation will be included on a separate design review application.

Life Sciences 51 Sleeper St Abutters Meeting

In January 2020, 51 Sleeper Street (an office building with Hopsters Brew & Boards on the ground floor) sold to a Life Sciences subsidiary of Hong Kong-based Nan Fung Group. Nan Fung hired Lee Kennedy who is renovating the building for Life Sciences. 51 Sleeper Street is zoned M-4 (Restricted Manufacturing). A Research Laboratory is an allowed use. Even though the developer is not required to hold a community meeting, Haley Dillon, our South Boston Liaison from the Mayor's Office, listened to neighbors' concerns and requested that one be held in order for residents to know all of the details about this lab, especially since it shares a wall with homes at Dockside Place Condominiums.

The meeting is open to abutters and any neighbors who are interested in learning more about Life Sciences fitting into our mixed use residential neighborhood. At last count, nine Life Sciences buildings are either existing, under construction or in the pipeline in Fort Point and the Seaport.
