Late Night T Starts Friday!

Beginning Friday night March 28, 2014, the MBTA is extending the hours of service by ninety minutes for Rapid Transit and Key Bus Routes on Friday and Saturday nights. The last Red/Orange/Green/Blue Line trains depart downtown stations at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Sunday through Thursday nights and approximately 2:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.

Fort Point Neighborhood Monthly Meeting

The Fort Point Neighborhood Association's monthly neighborhood meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2014. This month’s special guest is State Senator Linda Dorcena Forry. Nourish Your Soul and Sweetgreen are the featured local businesses and will be offering tasty refreshments. The meeting will begin with neighborhood updates and an open discussion on neighborhood issues.  Senator Forry will speak at 7 pm to be followed by a question and answer period.

45 West Third Street Community Meeting

The Boston Redevelopment Authority will host a public meeting regarding 45 West Third Street development on March 20, 2014. Spaulding & Slye Investments propose to redevelop the approximately one acre site at 45 West Third Street in the South Boston neighborhood. An existing 30,000 square foot, one-story brick building will be demolished and replaced with a new mixed-use development including approximately 144,500 square feet of residential space and ground floor retail/commercial space along A Street. Parking will be provided in a partially below-grade garage. 



The site is bordered by A St., Athens St., West Third St., and the South Boston Haul Rd.

Boston Seafood Show Traffic Plan

The International Boston Seafood Show will be held at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC) Sunday, March 16 -  Tuesday, March 18, 2014. In case of overflow parking, BCEC visitors will be directed to the Necco Street garage and the open air lot off of A Street on Sunday, March 16th and to the Channel Center garage on Richards Street on Monday, March 17th.

St. Patrick's Day Parade & Parking Advisory

The annual St. Patrick's Day Parade, as well as the annual South Boston Boys and Girls Club Road Race, will be held in South Boston on Sunday, March 16, 2014

The Boston Transportation Department is advising those coming into the city for the festivities to leave their vehicles at home and take the MBTA. Information on train and bus service into South Boston can be found at MBTATraffic will be detoured for portions of the day and parking restrictions be in effect throughout Sunday in the neighborhood. 

The parade will begin at 1 PM on West Broadway. The route will take marchers left onto East Broadway, right onto P Street, right onto Bast Fourth Street, left onto K Street, right onto East Fifth Street left onto G Street, right onto Thomas Park, onto Telegraph Street, Íeft onto Dorchester Street, ending at Dorchester Avenue. The road race will begin at 11 AM on West Sixth Street. The route take runners to Dorchester Street, right onto East Broadway, down and around the Farragut Statue at Day Boulevard, to East Broadway, right onto West Broadway, left onto E Street, left onto West Sixth Street, ending at the Boys and Girls Club.

"Tow Zone, No Stopping, Sunday Parade” restrictions will be in effect as follows:
  • Dorchester Avenue, both sides, from Gillette Park to 0ld Colony Avenue, and, both sides, from Andrew Square to Mount Vernon Street

Callahan Tunnel Reopens, South Boston Bypass Haul Road Restrictions Return

The Callahan Tunnel re-opened Monday, March 10, 2014 ahead of schedule. 

Traffic will return to pre-Callahan Tunnel closure conditions: 


  • On Wednesday morning (3/12), the Commercial Vehicle Only restrictions and the HOV lane 2+ restrictions will once again take effect on the South Boston Bypass Haul Road and the HOV Express Lanes to the Airport


  • A complete closure of I-93 Southbound through Boston overnight Tuesday (3/11) at 11pm into Wednesday (3/12) at 5am will allow for the removal of overhead detour signage


  • Police detail posts supporting the detour routes will end by Wednesday (3/12)


  • The I-93 Southeast Expressway HOV Zipper Lane’s early 2pm Southbound opening will continue through Friday (3/14), but return to a 3pm opening on Monday (3/17)


  • The traffic cameras that helped officials monitor detour route conditions and messages boards will be removed

The rehabilitation project allows for single-lane restrictions and complete overnight closures in the months ahead. The detour during those overnight closures will be posted as needed and direct motorists along surface streets and into the Ted Williams Tunnel.

Global Conspiracy Thriller To Film in Fort Point

NBC is in Boston filming the pilot of Odyssey, a global conspiracy thriller drama set to star Peter Facinelli (Nurse Jackie) opposite Anna Friel and Jake Robinson, and co-written and directed by Peter Horton.

Filming will occur in Fort Point in the proximity of A Street from Melcher to Congress this Sunday, March 9, 2014

President Obama Visits Boston Wednesday, March 5th

updated 3/5/2014Per Captain John Greland, Boston Police Department, District C-6, A Street will be closed from Melcher to West Broadway from 5 PM 9PM tonight, along with W. 2nd (B St to Dot Ave) and W. 1st (A St to Yard Way).

President Obama will be visiting Boston on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 on a fundraising trip for the Democratic party. 
Obama will first attend a round-table discussion fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) with about 25 supporters in Cambridge. The President will be arriving in Fort Point for a DNC dinner at Artists for Humanity EpiCenter, located at 100 West 2nd Street (A St and W. 2nd Street)
Neighbors are advised to expect traffic disruption on A Street and the surrounding streets starting late Wednesday afternoon as well as an all day parking ban on A Street from Congress to West 1st. Close by side streets may also be affected.

Boston Sewer Separation Project February Update

Boston Water and Sewer Commission (BWSC) is undergoing a separation of the combined sewer system. The project’s purpose is to reduce substantially pollution in the Fort Point Channel and Boston Harbor by decreasing overflow from the combined sewer and rain water pipes during storms.

Project Update
The contractor excavated test pits on Dorchester Avenue from the West Broadway intersection to Foundry Street in front of the Gillette building entrance, and performed a point repair of the sewer on A Street between West Broadway and Athens Street. The subcontractor, Insituform, began installing the structural liners on A Street, completing the 24-inch liners from West First Street to Wormwood Street and 16-inch liners from West Broadway to West Third Street. The contractor's work schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
